Joni Mitchell decided to remove her music from Spotify

Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell said she would remove her music from Spotify, according to Reuters.

His announcement came after Neil Young called out the popular streaming service for giving false information about COVID-19 vaccines.

Mitchell starred in the aftermath of Wednesday's announcement by Spotify and Young that the platform would remove their music after the singer-songwriter objected to it playing on the same service that offers podcasts by prominent vaccine skeptic Joe Rogan.

"I have decided to remove all my music from Spotify," Mitchell said in a statement published on its website. "Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing lives. I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue."

Young posted a letter on his website earlier in the week addressed to his manager and his record label demanding that Spotify no longer carry their music, saying "they can have Rogan or Young. Not both." The letter was later removed from the site.

Rogan is the host of the Top Rated Podcasts on Spotify.

Rogan, who began his career as a stand-up comedian, has long courted controversy with his views on the pandemic, government orders and COVID-19 vaccines. Rogan on his show questioned the need for these vaccines and said that he used ivermectin, an anti-parasitic drug that has no proven benefit against COVID-19.
