Gwen Stefani reveals she lost 'Mr. and Angelina Jolie from Mrs. Smith

'That could have been a different story!' Gwen Stefani reveals she auditioned for 'Mr. & Mrs Smith'

Singer and songwriter Gwen Stefani reveals she once auditioned for Mrs. Smith's part in the 2005 hit action film Mr. and Mrs. Smith. However, the role was later performed by Angelina Jolie.

The Rich Girl crooner, 52, who appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, recalled that she almost got a shot for the role played by Jolie opposite Brad Pitt in Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

During a game of Burning Questions on the DeGeneres Show, the host asked her, "What movie role have you auditioned for that would surprise people?"

In response to this question, the prolific singer said that she went for the 2005 film, saying, "Angelina beat me!"

"Wow, this could have been completely different," DeGeneres said, to which Stephanie quipped, "it could have been a different story!"

However, according to PEOPLE magazine, this isn't the first time Stefani has talked about auditioning for an action film.

In a 2008 interview with Vogue, the Don't Speak singer said, "It was between me and Angelina Jolie, and I'm like, 'Oh, great. I got a shot here.'"
