Why hasn't Meghan Markle's mother taken her away from her father?

The Duchess of Sussex has avoided meeting her father, Thomas Markle, who has been attacking her since her marriage to Prince Harry.

Meghan continued to draw criticism over her reluctance to visit her ailing father who was recently hospitalized.

Commenting on the Duchess's relationship with her parents, royal biographer Angela Levine wrote, "Where was Meghan's mother with her father during her teen years. If she had a bad relationship with him why didn't she take him away? Heard that she was probably a travel guide."

The former American actress is set to attend Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations with husband Prince Harry and two children.

The royal couple has been living in the United States after stepping down from their royal duties.
