The South Korean government announced that K-pop boy band BTS has become the most influential Korean celebrity worldwide in 2021.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism listed the top 10 celebrities on 24 January.
The names were determined based on the votes of 12,500 people from different countries around the world, mainly from Asia, Central and South America, the Middle East and Africa.
Votes on eight different interests such as 'interest in the Korean language' were analyzed before the official list was unveiled.
The butter hit-maker, who has played an influential role in promoting the country's culture, left the others behind as he garnered 15.1% of the total vote.
South Korean President, Moon Jae-in, whose work is being widely acknowledged amid the pandemic, finished second on the list with 6.2% of the vote.
Meanwhile, famous girl-group BLACKPINK, actors Lee Min-ho, Song Hye-kyo, footballer Son Heung-min, singer PSY and Parasite director, Bong Joon-ho also landed a spot on the list.
