Meghan and Harry get backlash as they decide not to boycott Spotify

Many in the UK were expecting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to announce a boycott of Spotify before releasing a statement on Sunday.

British journalists and royal experts are not happy that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have decided not to boycott the company.

The couple's statement comes in protest of singer-songwriters Neil Young and Joni Mitchell's announcement of removing their music from Spotify after the popular streaming service allowed misinformation to circulate about COVID-19 vaccines.

Commenting on Harry and Meghan's statement, royal correspondent Richard Palmer said: "Harry and Meghan are not joining Neil Young and Joni Mitchell in boycotting Spotify."

"It's a relief! Harry and Meghan can get hold of their Spotify millions," said Daily Mail Diary editor Richard Eden.

"Prince Harry and Meghan aren't boycotting Spotify ... yet," CNN's London anchor Max Foster said.
