Karachi: Former Supreme Court judge Shaik Usmani on Monday termed Prime Minister Imran Khan's remarks against the judiciary as surprising and deeply shocking, saying such remarks made by the prime minister are not in line with his office.

Speaking to a private TV show, he said that the biggest disappointment with the government's anti-corruption effort is that it focuses more on the fragmented approach of going after a few political leaders instead of addressing systemic corruption that is more important to the common man. is a curse.

Commenting on the anti-corruption campaign, the former Supreme Court judge said that the PM's entire emphasis was on expediting the accountability cases against Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif and not on tackling the overall problem of corruption that has taken the lives of the common man. made pathetic.

He said the prime minister has no interest in mitigating the national curse and hundreds of corruption cases across the country do not bother him. The former apex court judge said the prime minister should bring in significant judicial reforms to address the problems plaguing the people as per his party's manifesto. The Prime Minister only wants the accountability of the Sharif family and has no interest in addressing the day-to-day corruption faced by the common man. The arrest or conviction of former PM Nawaz Sharif or Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif will not benefit the common man. Their detention, prosecution and conviction does not solve the problems of the common man.

Commenting on the PM's remarks, the former Supreme Court judge said, "The PM thinks he is Mr. Know it all," but he is obsessed with the idea of ​​ending the Sharif family. Justice Shaik Usmani observed that there is a deep misunderstanding, issues related to corruption which have become a curse for the entire country, they should be addressed to provide assistance to a common man. Knowing that Imran is an honest and upright leader, the former judge said that we expect the Prime Minister to solve the wider issue of corruption and its various forms instead of breaking it into pieces. Referring to former Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew, Justice Shaik Usmani said that he should bring about a radical social change by not sticking with elite individuals and that is what Pakistan needs today.

Referring to a question about the resignation of anti-corruption Tsar Shahzad Akbar, who during his three-year tenure arrested former PM Khaqan Abbasi, MD PSO, former finance minister Mifta Ismail, PMLN leader Ahsan Iqbal and several other opposition leaders have done.
