Lahore: To contain the spread of COVID-19 amid the fifth wave of the pandemic in the country, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Wednesday approved 25% crowd attendance at the stadium for the Pakistan Super League 2022 Karachi-leg. match, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement.
The seventh edition of the PSL is scheduled to begin from January 27 at the National Stadium in Karachi.
The PCB said in a statement that around 8,000 spectators would be allowed inside the venue on each match day.
COVID-19 protocol
In order to ensure the health and safety of spectators as well as those attending matches, entry to the stadium will be subject to strict COVID-19 protocols, which are:
- Individuals over the age of 12 should be fully vaccinated.
- A valid vaccination certificate must be shown at the time of entering the stadium.
- Wearing of mask is mandatory inside the venue.
- Anyone violating the NCOC guidelines will be liable to be evicted from the stadium
PCB Chief Operating Officer and Director of PSL Tournaments Salman Nasir said: “Audiences are the essence of any sporting event and in this backdrop, we are now looking forward to set the stage for the PSL 2022 Karachi matches with 25% of the crowd attending. Let's hope.
"As a responsible organization, we fully understand our obligations regarding the health and safety of fans and will leave no stone unturned to strictly implement the NCOC guidelines," he added.
He urged the spectators to follow the guidelines during matches and cooperate with the authorities so that they and others can continue to enjoy the matches in a safe and secure environment.
The NCOC will decide closer in time for the league's Lahore-leg matches in Gaddafi to be played from February 10 to 27.
