Verdict in Cardi B defamation case to stop online attacks on Meghan and Harry


 After a three-year battle, Cardi B has won a federal defamation lawsuit against a YouTuber.

The jury favored Cardi's claim that YouTube ran a "malicious campaign" to damage her reputation. She has been awarded $1.25 million in damages.

Latasha Kebbe was found liable on three separate counts, for using video and social media to claim Cardi B was a prostitute, taking drugs, contracting STIs, and more.

She told the court that the bogus allegations and conspiracy theories caused Cardi to feel suicidal and depressed.

Commenting on the court's decision, Omid Scobie, a friend of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, said it was "potentially intended to do away with falsehood and defamation claims under the guise of opinion or "entertainment purposes" and profiteering accounts. Sets a new example.

"YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki continues to ignore the problem, but today's results may change things for good," he said.
