Herzog launches National Day at Dubai Expo 2020


 JERUSALEM: Israel's President Isaac Herzog inaugurated the National Day of Israel at the Dubai Expo 2020 on Monday. Addressing the Expo on the second day of his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), he said that the Expo is "a reminder of what can be accomplished when we cross boundaries by connecting minds and envisioning a different future." According to Herzog, bilateral trade is above US$1 billion, more than 120 agreements have been signed, and a $100 million bilateral R&D fund was recently established.

Stating that 250,000 Israelis have already visited the UAE, the Israeli President expressed hope that more people from the UAE will visit Israel after the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the speech, the Israeli flag was hoisted and the Israeli national anthem was played, the presidential office said in a statement.
