Norman Powell: How did the new Clippers forward play in his debut?

New Clippers forward Norman Powell finished a slow start with 28 points, including 19 in the second half, but that wasn't enough to stop the Bucks from winning 137–113 in Los Angeles.

Last week, The Clippers acquired Powell and Robert Covington from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Eric Bledsoe, Justice Winslow, Keon Johnson and the 2025 second-round pick (via Detroit).

Before the trade, Powell averaged 18.7 points at 45.6 percent off the floor, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists - numbers not much different from his previous season as the Raptors.

The 28-year-old played 24 skillful minutes against the Bucks, and although he started a bit slow, he showed exactly why the Clippers loved his effortless shooting stroke and needed the scoring punch of the bench to the Clippers.

He finished the game with 28 points (4-of-8 from behind the arch) and four assists.

His first two assists were for Covington as he demonstrated his on-court synergy along the order.

Powell's 28 on Sunday was four points from his season-high 32, which came against the Utah Jazz just days before the new year.

Postgame, Powell, who is a native of San Diego, CA, said that the only bad thing about his business was that he had received furniture in the house he had bought in Oregon, but added that he felt interest in them from Ty. Can Lew is going back to the NBA bubble.

Powell said he thought he "fitted in perfectly with PG and Kavi here" because of every role he has played throughout his career.

With the loss, the Clippers have fallen to 27–28 for the season, but are half a game ahead of the eighth-seeded Los Angeles Lakers in the West.
