US prosecutors in New York City said on Wednesday that actor Michael K. Four people have been arrested and charged in connection with Williams' overdose death.

Williams, 54, was best known for playing a shotgun-toting drug dealer in the HBO crime drama "The Wire."

Police said he was found dead in his New York apartment on September 7.

According to Reuters, one of the men, Irwin Cartagena, was arrested in Puerto Rico and charged in a criminal complaint Tuesday in Manhattan federal court, alleging narcotics conspiracy, in which the U.S. attorney Damian Williams was charged with distributing fentanyl-laced heroin. in Manhattan, said in a statement.

Under another criminal complaint that was closed Wednesday, Hector Robles, Luis Cruz and Carlos Mackie were indicted as alleged participants in the fentanyl and heroin conspiracy. Officials said the three men were arrested Tuesday from the borough of Brooklyn in New York City.

"This is a public health crisis. And it has to stop. Deadly opioids like fentanyl and heroin don't care about who you are or what you've acquired," Williams said.
