PSL 2022: Lahore Qalandars defeat Islamabad United by eight runs

Karachi: Lahore Qalandars defeated Islamabad United by eight runs in a thrilling Pakistan Super League (PSL) match at the National Stadium in Karachi on Saturday.

Despite their strong performances, Islamabad skipper Shadab Khan and Colin Munro failed to secure a win for their team against the Qalandars.

Shadab played the captain's innings by scoring 50 runs in 29 balls. However, he had to go back to the pavilion after scoring 52 runs in 32 balls with the help of two fours and four sixes. Rashid Khan dismissed the batsman.

Earlier, his fatal spell ruined the batting line-up of Lahore Qalandars. He took four wickets and conceded just 20 runs in his four-over spell.

Captain Shaheen Afridi shed the first blood for his team by dismissing Alex Hales in the third over of the innings. Whereas in the fifth over, Haris Rauf sent Islamabad's second opener Paul Stirling.

Colin Munro was the top scorer for his team as he scored 60 runs in 45 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes.

Earlier, Lahore Qalandars had given a target of 175 runs to Islamabad United in the 12th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the National Stadium in Karachi.

United's bowlers destroyed the Lahore Qalandars' middle order as they restricted the batsmen to 174 for the loss of three crucial wickets in the final over.

United captain Shadab Khan shed the first blood for his team after dismissing Abdullah Shafiq in the eighth over of the match.

Shadab Khan and Waqas Masood took four wickets each.
