Cillian Murphy reveals the reason why he and his wife decided to move back to Ireland
Cillian Murphy revealed that he moved back to Ireland with the family after his children developed a 'posh English accent' in a recent interview.
During an interview with Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast, the Peaky Blinders actor said that he and wife Yvonne McGuinness wanted their children to be Irish, so they decided to leave London after spending more than a decade.
The actor said, "We wanted the kids to be Irish. They were at that age when they were pre-teens and they had very posh English accents and I wasn't appreciative of that! So we decided to come back." "
"We were in London for 14 years, both our children were born there and we came back to Dublin only in 2015," said the 45-year-old star.
Murphy continued, "It's an Irish tale of going away, doing one's job, and coming home, which seems to be a common legend for Irish people."
The actor then shared another reason for making this decision, "And you know, our parents are at a certain age. It was a good time to come home. ,
"I love to go and I love food and I love the weather," he concluded. "I don't know, I just feel European, I just feel Irish. If I lived in California, I would feel like an interloper, I couldn't imagine living there permanently."
Murphy married his longtime girlfriend McGuinness in 2004. The couple has two sons together, Malachi, 16, and Aran, 14.
