Colin Jost takes a dig at Will Smith's Oscar ban in latest 'SNL' episode

'Saturday Night Live' host Colin Jost suggested punishment to Will Smith after Oscar slap

Will Smith's shocking Oscar moment has drawn enormous media attention. Recently, Saturday Night Live host Colin Jost has reacted to the actor's latest development of controversy.

While the Academy recently announced that the Bad Boys actor has now been banned from performing and participating in Oscar events for the next 10 years, Jost questioned whether Smith's punishment for his act was enough.

In the latest episode of the show, which aired April 9, Jost addressed the topic during a Weekend Update segment. He quipped, "As a punishment for slapping Chris Rock, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has banned Will Smith from attending the Oscars for 10 years. But is it a punishment?

“He can still be nominated. He can also win any award. He can also go to the after party. He just doesn't have to attend the four-hour ceremony where someone will surely make fun of his wife again,” he said.

Jost, who hosted the Emmys with Michael Che, suggested punishment for the Men in Black actor, saying, "Honestly, I think it would be a real punishment for Will Smith to host next year's Oscars. Because, mine Trust me, nothing will make you question your choices in life more than hosting an awards show."
