Prince Harry and Meghan Markle labeled selfish for humiliating Britain
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been called 'self-absorbed' for turning down a trip to Britain.
Royal editor Russell Myers noted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have lost respect in the public eye for turning down the Royal Family at the Prince Philip Memorial.
He wrote on Twitter: "Harry and Meghan's decision to travel to The Hague for the Invictus Games has "raised eyebrows" among the Royal Family, amid claims the Duke of Sussex cannot travel to the UK with Meghan or their children because it's very dangerous" ".
However, the Sussexes are thrilled to travel to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games. Harry refused to move to the UK for 'security' reasons, saying he did not feel safe bringing his wife and children Archie and Lily to the country.
Ken Wharf, a former royal security official, gave his two cents about Harry's reasoning: "I wonder why Harry thinks he will be safer in the Netherlands than in the UK.
"He would travel with his brother or father to his grandfather's memorial service and receive protection from the weather.
"It's not like he'll be walking around on a bike in Westminster Abbey.
"The risk of going to Holland to support a charity with a military link is greater than coming to London last week."
Responding to Mr Meyers' tweet, a user commented: "Meghan and Harry left the memorial [because] they must have been little fish in a big sea of kings and royals.
"With Invictus, there is no competition and they can pretend they are emperor," added another.
"Harry and Meghan are using the legions of Invictus to create a reality TV show about themselves. Completely self-absorbed," wrote a third.
