American rapper Ludacris replaces Lil Wayne at British concert

Organizers have said American rapper Lil Wayne will not perform at a British music festival this weekend after being denied entry to the United Kingdom.

The five-time Grammy Award winner, who was sentenced to a year in prison for possessing a gun in 2010, was to take to the stage at the Strawberry & Cream festival on Saturday.

American rapper Ludacris will now perform in his place.

"Due to extreme circumstances beyond our control or influence, we are very sorry to inform you that Lil Wayne is now unable to perform at the festival on Saturday, June 18," festival organizers said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Lil Wayne has been denied direct entry into the UK by the Home Office in a last minute decision. We are deeply disappointed by this sudden and negative decision. We have received very little notice, and the timing of the decision is certainly upsetting is gonna include all."
