Game of Thrones' George RR Martin reacts online to the end of the finale season
Game of Thrones writer George RR Martin recently revealed that his popular drama series drew a lot of criticism and hate online due to its "controversial conclusion" in the finale season.
Speaking to The Independent, the writer was stunned to see so much toxicity at the end of a show on social media.
Martin believed, "If you don't like a show, don't watch it!"
He continued, "How can people hate something so much that they once loved. How has everything become so poisonous?"
Reportedly, HBO's successful adaptation of Martin's novels became one of the most-watched TV shows of the past few years. However, in 2019, the final season eight was criticized by both viewers and critics for a disappointing ending mainly due to poor writing or lack of treatment of the main character's narratives.
Meanwhile, in another interview with ScreenRant, the writer mentioned, "It will either be a good show or a bad show or an average show. Some episodes are good and some are bad. Why are people going so crazy about it? Is it? I don't understand."
The Independent reported that Martin also discussed the widespread outrageous reaction from fans online to shows such as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series, which has yet to air, but "controversies about it." , is like a word war to social media".
Not only this, the author of GoT mentions about Marvel shows and movies that were once loved by ardent fans.
"Half of the people who call themselves Star Trek hate Star Trek, the same as Star Wars fans and then Tolkien fans hate Rings of Power, what's going on here?" He replied.
Martin also revealed that the GoT prequel series House of the Dragon will premiere on August 21.
"It won't be until we find out how much GoT's ending will affect audience ratings for the new series," he commented.
