A surgeon who specializes in facial paralysis and works with patients in the entertainment industry has updated fans of Justin Bieber that Canadian pop singer Ramsay Hunt is showing early signs of recovery after being diagnosed with syndrome.
The Sorry singer said in a video posted on Instagram that she has been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which affects the nerves in her ears and face. He noticed that his right eye was not blinking.
According to Charles Nduka, Consultant Plastic Reconstructive Surgeon in the UK and co-founder of health charity Facial Palsy UK, around 75 per cent of patients with the syndrome who receive initial treatment, including steroids and antivirals, make a full recovery.
"I notice in the video shared by Mr Bieber that he has some evidence of recovery, which is encouraging," Nduka told Reuters.
"One of the most obvious things with facial paralysis is that patients are unable to close their eyes fully enough to blink and they are unable to smile," Nduka said.
"Before the smile is fixed, the first thing that will develop is that there is increasing symmetry in the face at rest.
