Prince William to settle after smeared former nanny of Harry?

Prince William and Prince Harry's former nanny are close to a settlement with the BBC after being defamed by former rogue reporter Martin Bashir.

The Daily Mail reported that a High Court listing of the case regarding Bashir's attempts to secure his 1995 interview with Princess Diana.

The case referred to the BBC as the respondent and Alexandra Pettifer as the complainant.

The outlet reported that the case is described as "media and communications - part 8 claim - permission to read statements in open court".

Meanwhile, the report comes just days after the BBC issued an apology and payment for defaming one of its own journalists who attempted to expose Bashir's tactics.

Mark Killick - a former senior reporter, shared that the broadcaster had launched 'a smear campaign' against him after he expressed concern.

"It has agreed to pay 'a significant amount in damages and costs', which is believed to be in the region of £50,000," the outlet reported.
