Inflation, shortage of fertilizers: GDA, PTI Sindh leaders complain to President Alviq


 Sukkur: Leaders of GDA and PTI Sindh on Tuesday expressed their serious concern to President Arif Alvi over the issues of fertilizer shortage and inflation, saying it was affecting the progress of the party in Sindh.

President Arif Alvi, accompanied by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, arrived at Ghotki's Khangarh Palace to attend a reception hosted by GDA leader and MPA Sardar Ali Gohar Khan Mahar. Reports said that though the meeting was kept secret, sources claimed that Sardar Ali Gohar Khan Mahar, Arbab Ghulam Rahim, PTI Senators Saifullah Abro, Haleem Adil Shaikh and others held their views on the issues of fertilizer shortage and inflation. expressed concern. He complained that the PTI government was not paying due attention to the issues raised by the ally, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan continued to ignore them.

Sources said he also told the President that ahead of the General Elections-2018, the promises made by the leadership are yet to be fulfilled and the government has left PTI and GDA members alone.

He also complained against the federal secretaries for non-cooperation. He told Alvi that in these circumstances he could not get the results of the local body elections, while the police is also taking strict action on his workers and local leaders. Sardar Mahar drew his attention to the revenue of the Mari gas field, stating that it provided 33 per cent of the country's total gas consumption, as well as two fertilizer factories present in district Ghotki, but local residents were involved in health, education and employment. The GDA leadership also demanded a modern hospital and a university for the people of Ghotki. Sources said that President Alvi assured them that he would talk to the PM for redressal of their grievances and directed Governor Sindh to hold talks with the owners of fertilizer factories to resolve the black marketing. Addressing a function at Cadet College Ghotki, the President said that Pakistan is very proud of the two-nation principle which has defined its identity and sovereignty. He said that the nation was morally strong and had the ability to make a mark in the world scenario.
