Lata Mangeshkar showing 'slight improvement' in ICU

Veteran Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar remains in the ICU of a Mumbai hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 earlier this month, her team confirmed on Twitter on Tuesday.

According to an update on Mangeshkar's Twitter account on January 25, "Lata didi's health is slightly improving and she is still in the ICU."

Mangeshkar was taken to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital on January 11 after being infected with COVID-19, and was later admitted to the ICU with pneumonia.

The famous singer's family and team also asked for privacy and people to refrain from spreading rumors about her health.

“Please refrain from spreading disturbing rumors or falling prey to random messages about Didi's health. Thank you," read the tweet on Mangeshkar's account.

Earlier on January 13, Mangeshkar's sister Asha Bhosle provided health updates for fans and well-wishers.

Speaking to Times of India, Bhosale said that the hospital has strict restrictions and when she went to meet Mangeshkar, she was not allowed to see him because of his COVID diagnosis.

Bhosale assured fans that the legendary Mangeshkar is recovering. “Sister is getting better; He is better than ever,” she said.
