PCB dismisses Australian report about single venue for Test series

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricketer Board (PCB) on Tuesday said that there is no proposal to play all the three Test matches against Australia at the same venue.

The PCB clarification came after a report in the Sydney Morning Herald claimed that "negotiations are on with [PCB] regarding the possibility of playing all three Tests at the same venue for health and safety reasons".

The cricket board said that the matches would be held as per the schedule, "It is impossible to organize 19 days of international cricket on one ground.

"The matches will be played in Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore and the PCB is making necessary arrangements to ensure a safe environment for the series."

It further said that the apex COVID-19 body will be contacted closer to the series to take a decision on the viewership.

The Kangaroos will tour Pakistan in March to play a cricket series after 24 years in which the country is eagerly looking to revive international cricket and host foreign teams.

The first Test match between the two sides will be played in Karachi from March 3 while the second Test will be played in Rawalpindi from March 12-16.

After this the teams will play the third Test match between 21-25 March in Lahore.

Australian cricketer 'restless'

"Some players remain uneasy about the tour of Pakistan, but they have been encouraged by the recent reports about the West Indies tour," the report said.

"The tour will be made as short as possible, as bowlers will need to increase their workload for the Test series starting on March 3," the publication reported.

Meanwhile, Jhye Richardson has been ruled out of the Pakistan tour, and a preliminary squad will be announced in the coming days.
