Although Prince William was always destined to be king, he was not always willing to take on the role.
According to royal writer Jenny Bond, as a teenager the Duke of Cambridge felt the burden of a huge role and, by extension, hesitant that the public could understand.
"After getting to know my mother Diana and talking to her about her children, I remember very clearly how she said the country is lucky for William, he is fine," Bond told OK.
"She also said that she found that at that age, in her early teens, the burden of kingship was already quite heavy on her shoulders.
"I think we first saw reluctance to play the role, in his early teens, he knew his fate as none of us do from such a young age,
"But over the years he has firmly shown that he is the man for the role and that he cares about being a king. He completely accepts the role and the responsibility that destiny has given him."
