Queen rejected Prince Harry and Meghan's request to stay at Windsor Castle: report

The Queen reportedly rejected Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's request about their stay at Windsor Castle after their wedding in May 2018.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are enjoying life in the US with their two children Archie and Lillibet, have had several homes together since they first started dating almost six years ago.

Meghan, following her engagement to the Duke, moved into their tiny two-bedroom cottage at Kensington Palace, just a few doors away from the Cambridges. But after their marriage, they wanted somewhere bigger to raise a family and went to the queen with an idea.

But according to a report, the pair faced disappointment when the emperor refused the request made by them regarding their home.

According to the Sunday Times, Harry and Meghan asked the Queen if they could stay at Windsor Castle. "It is understood that the couple first laid their hearts out at Windsor Castle, and are believed to have asked the Queen if quarters could be provided for them to live after their marriage."

But according to media outlets, Harry's maternal grandmother said no and instead gave him Frogmore Cottage.

Another expert, Hugo Vickers, told the Express why the Queen decided to decline his request, saying it may not be "totally appropriate".

He writes: "Private apartments within Windsor Castle have vacant bedrooms and suites which may have been overlooked by the Sussexes, or perhaps some former living quarters on the castle grounds converted into other things. But I can see How could it not be perfectly suitable for a young family to live there."

It has been just over two years since the Sussexes moved out of Frogmore and began their new lives in the US. But it has now emerged that Harry is feeling unsafe bringing his wife Meghan and their two children to the UK, saying there is a lack of security.
