KARACHI: There has been no decline in Novel Coronavirus infection in Sindh as seven more people died during the last 24 hours, while the positivity rate rose to 22.7 per cent.
“With seven more deaths, the total death toll has gone up to 7,753. In addition, 7,636 samples were tested during the last 24 hours in which 1,735 cases were detected, with a detection rate of 22.7 per cent,” Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said in his daily COVID-19 tally on Tuesday. 19 said in the status report.
The Chief Minister said that six patients died during treatment at various health centers in Karachi while the death of one is being investigated. Giving an overall figure, the CM said that "7,487,696 tests were conducted out of which 528,851 tested positive, while 475,876 or 90 per cent of the infected patients have been cured."
The CM said that 45,222 patients are currently undergoing treatment; Of them 44,737 were in home isolation, 37 in isolation centers and 448 in different hospitals, the condition of 392 patients was said to be critical, including 19 on ventilators.
Of the 1,735 new cases, 1,478 have been found from Karachi. The district-wise break up includes 690 cases from East, 314 from South, 270 from Central, 112 from Korangi, 78 from Malir and 14 from West.
Apart from Karachi, Hyderabad has 86, Larkana and Sukkur have 23 each; Jacobabad, 13; Ghotki, 12; Shikarpur, 10; Khairpur, Nine; Martyr Benazirabad, seven; Thatta, five; Mirpurkhas, four; Jamshoro, three; Badin, Dadu, Kashmor and Sanghar do two each. Sharing the vaccination data, the Chief Minister said that till January 24, 33,462,019 doses of vaccines have been given.
