Comment: Chelsea's Performance Against Plymouth Argyle Shows Importance of Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea's hard-fought 2-1 FA Cup win over Plymouth Argyll on Saturday afternoon showed the importance of Thomas Tuchel to the west London club.

The German strategist was not present at the fixture after a positive Covid-19 test, which meant first team coach Arno Michels stood at the touchline in his place.

The Blues fought hard to turn the game back in their favor after being trailed in the eighth minute by a goal from Macaulay Gillespie.

After several attempted strikes, which did not result in much other than several shots into the Plymouth Argyle woodwork, captain Cesar Azpilicueta was able to find the equalizer in the 40th minute with a cheeky backwheel.

The home team was then forced to wait until extra time to score the winning goal when Marcos Alonso made a pull back from Kai Havertz in the 106th minute.

While Chelsea's game plan clearly provided them with most of the opportunities, the home side struggled to make too many notes, with the away side being strong defensively.
