Jada Pinkett Smith and Tupac Shakur grew up together before attending the same performing arts school
Jaden Smith, son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett, is seen sharing details about his mother's relationship with her childhood friend rapper Tupac Shakur in a re-surfaced interview.
Will Smith's son said that Tupac once proposed to his mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, according to an interview featuring their son, Jaden Smith.
The 23-year-old discussed her mother's relationship with Shakoor, who was shot dead in 1996 at the age of 25, during an interview with radio personality Big Boy in 2018.
Shakur is widely regarded as one of the most influential rappers of all time. After seeing a photo of the late artist in the studio, Smith said: "I see this picture of Tupac on the shirt right here, and Tupac asked my mom to marry me. And she was like: "Pac, we are best friends."
The recall prompted Big Boy to joke: "Well, they say marry your best friend, but I'm glad they didn't," a sentiment Smith agreed with a laugh.
The eldest son of a showbiz couple discussing his famous parents and their legacy has gone viral since it was uploaded to YouTube earlier this month by Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.
In the clip, Smith was asked about his experience growing up with famous stars and the pressures associated with his parents' fame, as well as how he managed to build his "own alley."
In response to the question, the rapper admitted that he didn't understand "how people feel" about his parents until he "went out into the world".
Pinkett Smith and Tupac Shakur were childhood friends, the pair growing up together before attending the same performing arts school in Baltimore, Maryland.
