Farooq Habib demands probe into accounts of all political parties

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farooq Habib on Tuesday said that the accounts of all political parties should be scrutinized as per the Supreme Court (SC) judgment and the law of the land. Talking to media persons outside the Election Commission of Pakistan, he urged the ECP to expedite the process of checking the accounts of PPP and PMLN. Farooq Habib said that the security committee has become inactive due to the retirement of one of the members of the inquiry committee. He said that the inquiry committee of the Election Commission of Pakistan had exposed all the claims of Akbar S Babar. Farooq said that according to the scrutiny committee, Akbar S Babar cannot produce any such evidence which can be produced in any court, so his petition should be dismissed. He said that PTI filed another petition with the Election Commission requesting that Akbar S Babar be dropped from the case as he could not prove any of the cases. The minister said that the PMLN had hidden 9 accounts while the PPP had hidden tens of crores of rupees from the ECP. Taking a jibe at the opposition parties, he said when will those who used to talk about India and Israel funding to PTI, give details of their accounts. He asked when will Maryam Safdar and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari give account of the funding of their parties.
