Former offensive coordinator Jordan believes in Travis' potential.
Over the past two seasons, Florida State has moved in as their quarterback Jordan Travis. In fact, the Seminoles are 7-6 under head coach Mike Norwell when Travis is the starter and 1-7 when he is not. In a win alone where Travis didn't start, he quickly replaced the Tate Roadmaker in the competition and led the program to a comeback victory.
To say the least, he is vital to Florida State's success and will need to take an even bigger step in 2022 to get this team back in the post season. Travis has shown some ability to take the next step and only turned the ball once in his final six at the start of last season.
However, this offseason there has been some discussion about where Travis sits in the quarterback's fields around college football. He's already in the top-25, according to Kenny Dillingham, his former offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Florida State.
If there's anyone who knows how talented Travis is, it's Dillingham. The two worked hand in hand over the past two seasons as Travis evolved from a dynamic scrambler into a legitimate dual-threat quarterback. Dillingham left for the same position at Oregon earlier this off-season but continued to support Florida State and Travis on social media.
The Florida native competed in ten sports with eight starts in 2021. He finished the year with six interceptions with 1,539 passing yards and 15 touchdowns, completing 62.9% of his passes. Travis also ran for 530 yards and seven more touchdowns. In his final seven starts of the season, he completed 65.1% of his passes and threw 11 touchdowns in just two interceptions.
Travis enters the spring as the undisputed starter at quarterback for Florida State. Redshirt sophomore Tate Roadmaker and true freshman AJ Duffy will be competing for the backup job.
