Husker Doc Talk: Why Does Dr. Rob Hate Lil’ Red?

Podcast dives into mascots, analytics and more

If you don't follow Dr. Robb on Twitter, you should. He pulls out a lot of one-liners daily and is no longer afraid to go against popular belief. But, being a doctor, he usually backs up his 280-character knowledge with sound reasoning.

The mascots of the University of Nebraska are simple balloons at which Dr. Robb throws darts. He wants Herbie's hair to be blonde again, and he wants Lil' Red to just pop and go. In this edition of the Doc Talk podcast, Travis Justice has an in-depth conversation with Dr. Robb about his dislike for the current state of Husker mascots. Yep, they even discuss the most recent controversy over replacing the Herbie logo, of which Nebraska is #1! But this is the last in which parts of the fan base have been fired!

David Max, publisher of HuskerMax, stops by the podcast to talk about one of his latest business ventures, Fanalytix. Over the years, David and his team have been providing great content to the fans. However, what fans want has changed over the years, and Fanlytics is a game-changer for visual content. We live in a day and age of big data. If you drill deep enough into the numbers, you can find many important answers to why a team wins and why it loses. Fanalytix data is available for all Nebraska sports, Power Five teams, and the NFL. They say a picture says a thousand words. Well, a Fanlytics graphic shows you what the game's four quarters looks like with the ability to dive even deeper.

The Super Bowl is coming up on Sunday, and former Nebraska quarterback Zack Taylor is the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals. Husker fans are showing their support for Taylor, who has miraculously made people like more on the Bill Callahan era, even if it's only for a week or two.

This podcast would not have been possible without the support of our great sponsors.
