Humayun Saeed announces next project for female Pakistani doctors

Humayun Saeed is bringing to the fore an important social issue in Pakistan.

The Mere Paas Tum Ho star and owner of Six Sigma Productions took to his Instagram on Monday to talk about the plight of female doctors who do not play their professional roles after marriage.

Sayeed said there is a need to highlight this issue for more women's participation in the working economy and discussed the choice of a project on the issue.

She wrote, "Disappointed to have only 1 in 4 female doctors practicing after graduation in Pakistan due to family pressure. Thinking of a new project, maybe to highlight this issue. Let's give women their dreams. Encourage us to carry on. #DoctorBahu," he wrote.

Saeed was supported by many of his fans, who shared their experiences.

“My aunt, MBBS graduate, a gold medalist, married a doctor, obviously settled in the US, but never did her medical job after marriage and that too voluntarily. She had the option but she chose the US. I chose to be a housewife," commented one fan.

Another said: "Yes even in the UK, a lot of Pakistani female doctors are unwilling to work and honestly there is no pressure from the husband. Staying at home is easy. And not only doctors but also in other professions, leaving the uni." Not interested in working after."
