Werl (Morgan Santo) is an inmate at the atheist colony, Collective, along with his "mother" Desima (Kim Engelbrecht). She appears with her mother in the opening sequence of the second season premiere. In the tropics of planet Kepler-22b, a group of atheists discover a dormant mother/lamia in the woods. Who is Vril?
Vrille appears at first glance to be a typical teenager, smart, rebellious and impulsive. She, like her mother, is carrying an explosive device on her chest that will explode if she leaves the settlement. Marcus, a man they know as a terrorist, rescues Vril and his mother in the season 2 premiere. Marcus sees them running. He comes to their rescue after a third member of the fleeing team is killed by an explosion. He was initially hesitant to help Vrille because of his previous experience with Android. On the other hand, Desima convinces him.
Vrille is a custom-built android that bears striking physical and behavioral similarities with the real Vrille since the latter's suicide. Marcus learns of Decima's Mithraic identity. She was a key figure in the development of the ship that atheists used to steal and lead to Kepler-22b. Because of a deal he had with the Trust, the atheists' quantum supercomputer, he was allowed to keep the Vrille.
