ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed on Tuesday said that the most important characteristic of judiciary and judges is independence, fearlessness and integrity and likewise the difficult and difficult task to be followed by the members of the bar. Justice Bandiyal observed that our differences of opinion in matters of law arise out of our personal perceptions and this diversity enriches our understanding. "Yesterday's minority view may become tomorrow's majority decision, but we wonder why some observers who discharge a great duty as vigilante media, especially members of social media, are able to focus on criticism of their decisions. Outgoing Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed said that the appointment of Justice Ayesha A Malik created history by the appointment of the first woman judge to the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice further said that the principle of separation of powers is the basis of our constitutional framework and provides a system of checks and balances to ensure that each organ of the state remains within the limits of its power or jurisdiction. The outgoing CJP said, "There should be harmony among the three state organs, and they are expected to work towards achieving the goals set out in the Constitution." He further said that the consultation with the Bar has been an ongoing process and in this, the issues of the lawyers were addressed, so the matters relating to the functioning of the court were resolved amicably. The CJP said that when he took over as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the COVID-19 pandemic started showing its full face, where many people were affected by the pandemic. However, he said that the court continued to function in it and was not closed for a single day, adding that for the benefit of lawyers and litigants, special arrangement was introduced where proceedings were filed before this court. The deadline for doing so was extended. He said that cases were already being heard through video-link from all the branch registries of the court i.e. Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this facility of hearing through video-link from branch registries has been extensively leveraged to ensure that litigants and lawyers are saved from traveling to Islamabad from their stations. As the Chief Justice of Pakistan, I have heard and decided 4,392 cases, the CJP said, adding that the judges of this court, despite all odds and risks to his health, ensured that justice prevails and the disputes of the people are resolved. be the solution.
