Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry was excited for his Splash Brother big night
A place where they have become very comfortable over the years, the Golden State Warriors took command of the business again on Monday night against the OKC Thunder. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and the entire Golden State team did what they could with their 9th-straight win against OKC.
In the absence of Drummond Green, Steph Curry has taken on a huge playmaking responsibility, and that certainly was on display in the game. Sacrificing his shot efforts to contain his teammates, Curry nearly saw a triple-double from the field on 6/12 with 19 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds. Curry's 12 field goal attempts are the third-lowest points he has scored this season; However, 10 assists is in regards to its second highest score of the year. Since Drummond Green went down on January 6, Curry has averaged 7.3 APG, leading the Warriors.
Part of Curry's playmaking uptick is akin to the return of Klay Thompson, a much-deserved recipient of Curry's passing. Kel, who is no stranger to big moments in Oklahoma City, went for 21 points, which included two clutch threes down the stretch. After the game, Steve Kerr said, "It's great to see Kel seal victory with one three after another. It's fun to bring him back, he looks great, he's doing great . ..It's great to have Kel back."
Steph Curry reflected the same sentiments as his head coach. "Just watching him go back to normal. I don't want to glam it up too much. It's two big shots, but it's so much more — I love watching Kel play basketball," Steph said.
With this win, the Warriors continued to extend the NBA's longest active winning streak, winning each of their previous nine competitions. The win puts them ahead with the Phoenix Suns, who currently own a 2.5-game lead over Golden State for the top seed of the Western Conference.
