The Timberwolves have two expiring contracts in Patrick Beverly and Taurean Prince. Which combined would be enough to match Simmons' salary. He would fit into Minnesota's timeline and is the type of player who doesn't usually end up with a team like the Timberwolves. The fit is good with Towns, Russell and Edwards and the Timberwolves can provide some favorable draft picks. If Simmons is not available, the team must land expiring deals to claimants for future draft assets.
