After Kate and William's visit, Belize takes first step to remove Queen as head of state
Days after Prince William and Kate Middleton's visit, Belize has taken the first step in removing Queen Elizabeth as head of state.
According to reports, Belize is considering becoming a republic.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on an eight-day visit to the Caribbean by Queen Elizabeth.
Reports said the government in Belize has announced a body under the Ministry of Constitutional and Political Reform, the People's Constitutional Commission, which will conduct "country-wide consultations on the continuing dissolution process".
Kate and William arrive in Belize on the first leg of their official visit. They left Belize for Jamaica and reached the Bahamas on the final leg of their tour.
