Meg Mack shares smoky new single 'On Your Mind' with live video, national tour dates

She will take to the stage in Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra, Brisbane and Sydney

Meg Mack has shared a smoky new single titled 'On Your Mind' along with a striking live video shot at Golden Retriever Studios in Sydney – and the announcement of a five-day national tour in support of the release.

Building on the poignant blues of his previous single, 'Is It Worth Being Sad', the new track stands out with bold, rounded bass guitar, gentle strings and a punchy, yet pared-back drum beat, Mack's layered vocals. Mixing its neo-soul flavor with dry analog production, the track has a raw, '50s-channeling fit perfectly for Mack's stint.

The accompanying live video adds a wealth of character to the track - Mack's resonant howls are accentuated with Hannah and Callum McInerney's backing vocals, while Oliver Thorpe's guitar gels beautifully with Harry Sutherland's keys.

In a press release, Mack explained that a good measure of the allure behind "On Your Mind" came from LA-based production duo The Donuts, who worked on the song remotely while Mack was based in Sydney.

"I sent The Donuts a simple vocal and piano demo and some context for the mood I was thinking of," she said. "But it was so loose, they could do whatever they wanted.

"One day they sent a video from the studio of a small snippet, I played it on repeat, I was so obsessed. They tore it up and flipped it over, I was so confused and excited when I heard the whole song My wife had become the chorus, she cut all these swaras, shuffled everything around, changed all the ragas.”

Fans will be able to listen to Mac and the band play 'On Your Mind' live this May, when the cast embarks on a five-day national tour. It will debut in Melbourne on 20 May, when Mack and co. will play on stage. She would move on to Hobart before hitting the stage in Canberra, Brisbane and Sydney.

The latter show – on June 18 at the Opera House – arrives as part of this year's VIVID Live event. Tickets for this are now on sale through the venue's website, with the others going live tomorrow at 10 a.m. local time (March 31). $1 from every ticket sold to those shows (Sydney's bar) will be donated to GIVIT, helping in their efforts to support communities affected by floods in NSW and Queensland.

Friday 20 - Melbourne, Forum

Saturday 21 - Hobart, Odeon Theater

Monday 23 - Canberra, Canberra Theater
