Marvel Studios gets weird with Moon Knight
We watch Moon Knight on Disney Plus to meet the MCU's newest hero (or at least we think he's a hero). Oscar Isaac is breaking new ground in the world of Marvel Studios' Disney Plus shows: It's the first series based on a character we haven't seen in a previous MCU film or series.
While the social media of Disney Plus made it look like Episode 1 would start early, it is not. At noon ET on March 29, the official Disney Plus Twitter account posted a tweet saying the series is "streaming tonight," but nothing happened during the evening hours.
First and foremost, it appears we're meeting Moon Knight through one of his many identities, and the least intimidating at that. Steven Grant, who cracks a Rubik's Cube while trying to go to sleep, is a museum store clerk who needs to lock several locks and brace his legs in order to go to bed safely.
What happens when he sleeps? Well, Grant will tell you that he experiences dreams that he believes are real. But based on what we know from the trailer below and from the comics, we do know that Steven Grant is one of several identities associated with the vigilante known as Moon Knight.
One of the other names for Moon Knight is Mark Spector, a former government agent associated with the Egyptian god Khonshu. Confusing isn't it? Well, that's half the fun of this series, offering something completely new to the MCU. The other half involves some of the trouble that Grant/Spector/Moon Knight has come up with with Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke), who looks like a cult leader.
Here's everything to know about how and when to watch Moon Night online. Oh, and since we've already seen the first episode of the show, check out our Moon Knight review to see why we love it.
