Russia has killed thousands in Ukraine
Russia is being condemned for the attack on Ukraine. Thousands have died and over a million have fled the war.
As condemned for Putin's invasion of Ukraine, Queen Elizabeth's cousin Prince Michael of Kent announced in 2009 the return of the Order of Friendship received from then-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
According to the UK's Daily Express, the prince has spent much of the past 30 years doing business in Russia and faced allegations that he was selling privileged access to Vladimir Putin's regime.
The prince is related to the last Tsar Nicholas II through his late grandmother, Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna of Russia, the report said. According to the report, Michael was under intense pressure to cut ties with key business figures associated with Putin's regime following the invasion of Ukraine.
The newspaper reported that a spokesman for the Prince, whose father was the younger brother of King George VI, said: "I can confirm that HRH Prince Michael of Kent is returning his Russian Order of Friendship.
