Thunder's losing streak reaches three as Shai Gilgius-Alexander continues his hot streak
Shai Gilgius-Alexander can't be stopped.
But Thunder can.
Gilgius-Alexander continued his tear on Tuesday against the Bucks, but the Thunder again struggled to stay in the competition, losing 142-115. While OKC was able to keep the score respectable for most of the game, the lack of health and depth was evident on the current roster.
The first quarter was competitive, mostly due to the aggressive success of Gilgius-Alexander. After a skilful offensive first quarter, the Bucks led OKC, 39-34.
The second quarter was pretty much the same, offense. The Bucks, again, nearly reached the 40-point mark with 37 and OKC putting up a respectable 31, but the Bucks extended their lead just before half.
Thunder trailed 76-65 in the half. It wasn't all negative for the Thunder, despite being behind OKC. For one, the team shot an efficient first half of 58.5% from the field and 53.3% from 3-point range.
Gilgius-Alexander also made an impressive showing in the first half with 21 points and seven assists in the first half. Lindy Waters III scored 11 points for the OKC of the bench, with 3-for-5 points beyond the arc in the half.
The offense slowed slightly in the third quarter and neither team reached the 30-point mark. Bucks lead, while it didn't get out of control, it didn't shrink. Thunder were dismissed 29-28 in the third.
Gilgius-Alexander posted a double-double through three quarters with 30 points, 11 assists and six rebounds.
The fourth quarter is when the game got out of hand for OKC. Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo helped the Bucks beat OKC 37-22 in the final frame. Gilgoyas-Alexander added three more points to his total to end the game with an impressive line of 33 points, eight rebounds and 14 assists. He now has exactly 33 points in three consecutive games.
He shot 11-in-18 from the field and 3-for-3 from 3-point-range.
For the Bucks, Antetokounmpo scored 39 points to turn down OKC.
Waters finished with a career-high 16 points for OKC, dropping four of his nine 3-point attempts.
