'I mean, alopecia, it's not leukemia': Bill Maher to Jada Pinkett Smith amid Oscar slap controversy
Well-known American comedian and TV show host Bill Maher has joined the list of celebrities who reacted to Will Smith's infamous slap to Chris Rock during the 2022 Oscars ceremony.
While the slap controversy has left the internet divided, as netizens are showing support for Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith and some are with The Rock, the Real Time host, 66, took a serious dig at Jada's situation. Joked from, Alopecia, during the 94th Annual Academy Awards Show.
Taking a dig at Matrix: Resurrection star, Maher said, "I mean, alopecia, it's not leukemia, right? Alopecia is when you lose your hair... and worse things happen."
Elaborating further, Maher also revealed how hair loss was a part of aging for most people. "If you're lucky enough in life that you have a medical problem, just say 'Thank God,'" he said. "It's not life-threatening. It's for most people -- 80 percent of men, 50 percent of women -- it's part of aging," he said.
Later in the episode, Maher also suggests to Jada that she might use a wig, saying, "Old age is, trust me, I know, it's the decay of the flesh. It's all about us." Happens with. And you know, just put on a [disadvantaged] wig like everyone else at the Oscars if it bothers you too much."
