Hollywood star Denzel Washington on Sunday missed out on condemning Will Smith's attack on Chris Rock at the Academy Awards ceremony as he spoke about the incident during an interview.

The actor was seen consoling Smith after the incident that shocked millions.

According to Variety, while attending the Leadership Summit of author and bishop TD Jakes on Saturday, Denzel Washington said, "Well, there's a saying, 'When the devil ignores you, you know you're doing something wrong. are.' The devil goes, 'Oh no, leave him alone, he's my favorite.' Conversely, when Satan comes at you, it's probably because he's trying to do something right," Washington said. "And for whatever reason the devil captured him that night."
