Kim Kardashian, Pete Davidson's Appearance at Mark Twain Awards Affected by Blackfishing Claims

Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson make first public appearance as a couple at the Mark Twain Awards

Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson's first public appearance as a couple at the Mark Twain Awards has been fueled by allegations of blackfishing and cultural appropriation.

The 41-year-old color coordinated with her boyfriend for Sunday's event in Washington as she showed off her charm in a black sequined dress.

However, netzines quickly noticed that the Skims mogul showed a heavy tan as he sat next to Davidson, whose late father Robb was Armenian, at The Kennedy Center.

Taking to Reddit, Kardashian fans accused the reality star of blackfishing — a term that refers to someone pretending to be Black or mixed-race.

Journalist Vanna Thompson coined the term, "white public figures, influencers, and the like [who] do everything in their power to appear Black."

"When are we going to drag [Kim] over the constant blackfishing? Is she just pretending to be a different race?" One user wrote.

“Her dress is beautiful, but she looks really dark. Kind of chill out on spray tan,” expressed another fan.
