Amber Heard's op-ed had 'zero' impact on Johnny Depp's defamation: expert

Entertainment consultant Katherine Arnold testifies, Johnny Depp harmed his career through his own trial

Katherine Arnold, an entertainment consultant, told court Monday that Amber Heard's op-ed had no effect on Johnny Depp losing the role of Pirates of the Caribbean 6.

Arnold told the court that Depp's 2020 lawsuit against The Sun was 'really difficult for his career'.

Depp had no luck in that trial as the judge concluded that the claim was "substantially true."

Arnold expressed on the witness stand, "Every allegation of abuse, every text, every email, all the audio and visual stuff was brought to light and made public.

"The industry was watching closely and it's difficult for studios, especially ones like Disney, to be associated with a star that has texts about charred corpses and violent behavior."

“Every time Mr. Depp brings up a lawsuit because he is such a well-known public figure, the spotlight goes on him, whether it is against his business manager or his former attorney, even when he filed his talent agent If done, it becomes news..." he added.

“Then they look at the details. Precarious behavior, financial issues, drinking and drug abuse were part of every one of them, and it all came to light once again,” the industry expert said.

Arnold said that such damage to his career from Heard's controversial writings was not widely known.

"Zero. The movie doesn't exist yet, so that's one reason, but equally important is the fact that Disney, in its file for this test, didn't have the op-ed ... the op-ed even came out, "He said.

“Very little. Hardly anyone knew the op-ed existed before the lawsuit was filed, if anyone whom I knew, but certainly didn’t, Disney,” she said.
