Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt, who has moved on after splitting from Angelina Jolie, said 'I feel like all our hearts are broken'.
Speaking to the latest edition of British GQ, the 58-year-old actor has given a vague assessment of the human condition moving forward from the fallout of his five-year marriage to the Maleficent actress in 2016.
Emotional turmoil and deep sadness are an essential part of development, he said, adding: 'I feel like all our hearts are broken'.
He said, "I've always felt very lonely in my life, growing up alone as a kid, even lonely, and it really wasn't until recently that I started talking to my friends and family. more and more embraced."
'Which line is that, it was either Rilke or Einstein, believe it or not, but it was something you can walk along the contradiction, when you carry real pain and real pleasure together, that maturity. Yes, this is development.'
The actor spent 18 months attending regular Alcoholic Anonymous meetings while embracing the group's core principles of abstinence from all mind-altering substances and honesty about the nature of addiction in 2016.
'I had a really nice group of men here that was really private and selective, so it was safe,' he said. 'Cause I saw other people's things, which were recorded, while they were bragging their courage, and that is very atrocious to me.'
He said of his previous smoking habit, 'I don't have the ability to do just one or two things a day. 'It's not in my makeup. I'm all in And I'm going to drive into the field. I have lost my privileges.'
Pitt believes we all experience heartache at some point in our lives, although he himself pursued a life of sobriety that began shortly after his divorce from Jolie in 2016.
