Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall opened up about her life in the country as guest editor on her 75th birthday this week in an article for Country Life magazine, sharing how 'dark' it can be in the countryside Is.
According to Express UK, Camilla wrote an article as guest editor for Country Life in which she revealed the dark side of countryside life, which is often brightened up by picturesque landscapes.
While life in the countryside can be idyllic, the Duchess of Cornwall shared that it could also mean increased crime rates and cases of domestic violence due to 'physical isolation'.
In her article, Camilla wrote: "On these pages, I also sought to explore challenging themes: the ever-increasing rise in rural crime, the conflicts faced by family farms, which can tragically lead to suicide, and the specific difficult circumstances of those facing domestic abuse in remote areas."
“The latter is a cause that is particularly close to my heart: I know that physical isolation is often used by criminals to profit and that in rural areas it is harder for victims to reach out to seek help.. "
She continued: "...especially in close-knit communities where everyone knows each other and where support services can be more limited."
"Importantly, however, there is hope and there are steps that each of us, whatever our circumstances, can take to help. We all have a role to play in both hearing and speaking out about this often hidden crime." Camilla added.
