Queen Elizabeth makes public tour of £22million Thames Hospice
Queen Elizabeth II sparked laughter and laughter with a hilarious quip after a man's phone rang at a crucial moment.
The 96-year-old monarch made a public visit to the £22million Thames Hospice, where she met stage 4 cancer patient Graham White and his wife Pat.
However, the meeting turned into a memorable moment when Graham's phone rang and he immediately reached into his pocket to turn it off.
"Typically, a phone turns off immediately," Queen said.
Pat said of her husband's phone call, "I could kill him! People think Queen has a hard upper lip, but she has a sense of humour."
Graham, 67, reflected on the moment, "I turned off my wife's phone and I could have sworn mine was off — it was a little embarrassing."
"The Queen said the building is beautiful and has shown a keen interest in various cancer treatments and hopes the new building will help all cancer patients here," Pat said.
