Travis Barker's health status explained by gastroenterologist

Travis Barker was hospitalized for pancreatitis

Travis Barker was reportedly admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for pancreatitis

According to Insider, doctors assumed the Blink-182 singer's illness was caused by a recent colonoscopy.

Several research reports suggested that colonoscopy is a "colon cancer screening test recommended for men over the age of 45.

"Colonoscopy-induced pancreatitis is so rare that the report should be taken with a grain of salt," said the New York-based gastroenterologist.

"While it may be true that Travis recently had a colonoscopy, and it may be true that he has pancreatitis, it is very hard to believe that they are actually cause and effect," stresses the gastro doctor. .

A group of research bodies reported that cases of pancreatitis are usually "caused by gallstones or alcohol abuse, and other cases are caused by drugs, viruses, or even procedures other than colonoscopy".

Meanwhile, gastroenterologists suspected this might happen "if the colonoscopy equipment somehow enlarges the pancreas".

“It is particularly rare to develop pancreatitis from a colonoscopy. It is not something we consider, although, for example, an injury to the liver or spleen,” said health experts.
