ABBA's Björn Ulvaeus is launching a radio show on Apple Music that hopes to explore why his songs like Mamma Mia and Dancing Queen have been stuck in the heads of people around the world for so many decades.
Guitarist, singer and co-songwriter from the Swedish supergroup will host Björn from the ABBA and Friends radio show on Apple Music Hits starting Monday.
The limited series includes music and conversations with Ulvaeus's friends and collaborators, beginning in the first episode with his fellow producer, songwriter and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Nile Rodgers.
Ulvaeus and Rodgers talk about the secrets of hit-making and why ABBA's music remains in the public consciousness.
"I've long wanted to ask some emotionally intelligent as well as intellectual people who know about ABBA why they think our songs have lasted so long - almost 40 years - because I can't do it myself. understands," said 76-year-old Ulvaeus.
The show comes in the midst of a major ABBA renaissance. Ulvaeus and bandmates Agnetha Faltskog, Annie-Frid Lingstad, and Benny Andersen released their first new music together in November on the album Voyager in four decades.
And in May, a series of holographic live shows created by the group and George Lucas' special effects company, Industrial Light & Magic, are set to begin.
Other guests of Ulvaeus on the radio show include British playwright Katherine Johnson, who wrote the stage play Mamma Mia! and the script of the subsequent film.
Johann Renck, creative director of the upcoming concerts, guest on another episode, which all airs at 3 pm. Can be streamed Eastern and After this week.
Ulvaeus is the latest of several music stars to host a show on the service. Others include Elton John, The Weeknd, Jay Balvin and Shania Twain.
