There is no indication as to when the government will begin the appointment process for the new NAB chairman. While the current one is said to be making its bid to get another four-year term, official sources said some influential figures in the government are in favor of appointing former vice-president Hussain Asghar as the next head of the anti-corruption body. are in.

Another lobby within the government is said to be trying to make Lt Gen (retd) Bilal Akbar the chairman of the NAB. At this stage nothing can be said about who will make it in the end, as the process of appointing the Speaker NAB involves the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition. If they do not agree on a name, the matter will be referred to a parliamentary committee.
